BENEFIT Party.—A party for the benefit of George Edmonds will be given at
the Theatre this evening. ‘The best of
music has been engaged and the floor is in
first-rate order. No pains will be spared
to make all who attend, enjoy the dance.—

we hope to see the house crowded.
FURNITURE AT AuctTion.—A fine lot of
household and_ kitchen furniture will be
sold at auction to-day at 11 o'clock, in front
of the Auction Rooms of H. M. Levy, on
Broad street. All in want of such things
should be on hand for a bargain. bed
SrRinc Goops.—Banner Bros: are how
receiving an immense stock of clothing for
the Spring trade. Every day heavily
loaded teams discharge their freight for
this firm, and the goods they are opening
are of the very latest style. Everybody
in want of clothing furnishing goods, hats,
caps, boots, shoes, and all other articles
usually found in 4 first-class clothing store,
should call at Banner’s, corner of Broad
and Pine streets. _#
SraTE.CERTIFICATE.—Miss M, EB; Hubbard, formerly of this city, has been granted a State Certificate of the First Grade
by the State Board of Education, for success in teaching, and on certificates from
the County Board of Examination, Miss

teaching at Birchville.
A Gane or THEM.—Recently a store
was robbed in this city and a night or two .
after oneat Union Hill. In both cases
such an amount of property was taken as
leaves no doubt that a gang of thieves are
operating at this business. It is surmised
that the goods stolen are conveyed to the
railroad and transported to Sacramento or
San Francisco. In both cases men were
sleeping in the houses robbed. These fel:
lows have commenced their work and it
would be well for housekeepers and merchants to keep a sharp look out for them.
