NEVADA CouNTY ENTERPRISE.—
Wherever there is aything to be made
or gained, there Nevada county men
will be found. White Pine and Waskington City, says the Grass Valley Union, are’ the two fields attracting at— .
tention, aid Nevada county men are on
both. White Pine is: silver, bat office
from Washington is gold. We notice
‘among applicants for, the good things:
at Washington, that Rollins and Waite.
pare mentioned. C.F. Wood, of Oak=1
land, is also named as an applicant for
the Surveyor Generalship of California.
‘C. Fabius Wood was once a Nevada
county man, and held the position of .
Deputy Sheriff under “Boss” Wright.
Wood is a brother-in-law of Senator
Stewart, they both having married
sisippi. Stewart is urging. Wood's:
claims. We donot know. how much
General, but we know he has a most
‘amiable and accomplished wife, and
therefore we hope he will make a suc-_
cessful trip. Of the other Nevada coun.
ty men we can only say that if brains
and honesty are of any oweight in appointments to office, Waite should be
the man.
Tur Howsons.—For two nights past
the Tlowson troupe have been playing
in this city, and their performances,
though of'a light character, are varied
and interesting. The vocal music is
very excellen*, and the two young ladies
always succeed in-delighting their au—4
dience. On Thursday evening the duet
“Sainted Mothér’” was rendered by
them with excellent effect, their voices
blending in.the sweetest melody. The
closing farce kept the house in a roar,
and John Howson made a capital hit in
the “Grecian Bend.” Last evening La
Grand Duchess was rendered, and this
evening the company will receive a bens
efit at the hands of the Grass. Valley
people.
