Boara the Daily. Transcript NEVADA CITY, CAL. a LOCAL AFFAIRS. A Night i the Storm--Child Lost _ and Found, . On Saturday evening, between 4 and5 o’clock, a little son of E. D. Bush, of Red Dog, aged three years, wandered from home, and was’ not o’clock. The father was reading, and the mother engaged in her household duties when the little fellow went out. The child was gn missed, and as darkness came ‘on and the storm increased, the paréiits realized that it was lost. The news was soon carried to the adjoining town of You Bet, and immediately over. fifty men began the search, Mr, Cook, the pany suspended work, that the entire force might be spared tosave, if possible, the missing child from the death which seemed to ‘threaten the little one in that terrible night of darkness and storm. The whole country about Red Dog was. scoured by men all night long, and the flickering lights of the lanterns could be seen in every direction, Every one of the men who thus searched in the pelting storm hoped to. be able to restore the child to the distracted mother, who was also among the searchers. All feared that the child would be found dead, either from exopen shafts in the vicinity. Daylight came, but the child was not found, and the search was continued, in the . ’ hope that at least the body might be found for burial. Mr. Ennis and Mr. Thorndyke, who had fine setter dogs, started out in different directions, in hope that the dogs. might find the child. The instinct of the animal and its keen scent proved superior to man’s reason in this case. When about a mile from the home of} the child, Mr. Thorndyke noticed that his dog had found the scent and. was eagerly following its direction to some bushes. When thedog reached the spot he howled and acted in such a manner that those who saw him were satisfied that the object of the night’s search had beén found. The child was -discovered snugly curled up under a large bush and seemingly contented. When they got to it, the little fellow said: ‘I’m hungry, I want to go home and get breakfast.”’ The good news of the successful termination of the long search spread rapidly, and the child was soon: restored tothe anxious mother. The little fellow was none the worse for his night in the storm. Third Lecture. _ The third lecture for the benefit of the Nevada Library Association, was delivered on Monday evening by Jno. Pattison Esq. of this city.’ ‘The subject was ‘‘Odds and Ends,’’ and the lecturer so handled the odds that the audience regretted the end came so soon. He commenced by stating that some persons in the audience might consider him embarrassed and in such an event they would be right. He-then-went on-and-touched upon} many local and general topics in such a& manner_as to keep the. audience in a good humor, and concluded by saying that if any were notsatisfied they could demand the money back of Jonathan Clark. It was évident, however, from the manner in which the audience appreciated the lecture, that no money would be demanded. The lecture was a success, and the audience were well entertained. Rw See advertisement in another column, feb7-3m Lassitude and Debiility. _ The relaxation of. nervous energy which creates an indispgsition to physical or menpositive inability, and whidh we term lassitude, proceeds from a variety of_causes. The principal of these are constitutionaldebility, heat of the atmosphere, coupled with humidity, climatic changes, and the physical prostration consequent upon.a long ff. ness.’ But if the nervous system is unduly relaxed, something is required to brace it up. That something is Hostetter’s Stomach Bitters, which is universally recognized as the most complete and speedy recuperant of the physical forces in existence. It has been sothoroughly and widely demonstrated as to be a matter of positive certainty and familiar knowledge, that the Bitters will not oniy rehabilitate the physique, when also, if taken systematically, actually compensate the constitutionally feeple frame for its deficiency of strength, and by infusing new life intos weak aystem, endow it with the health and vigor which Nature has denied it, The Bitters also enable the body to resist the enervating influences of heat» humidity, and changes froma temperate to & hot climete. It is on these accounts especially to be recommended to travelers and residents in the torrid zoné, and persons subjected to abrupt transitions in-.temperature. ae A Card to the Public.
