From Brown’s Lawyer.
‘Eprror Transcrrpt—Permit me
to correct your information in regard to the arrest of old man Brown
for assault on Ed. Roberts. As to
the fracas itself the testimony will
tell at the proper time, but in the
meantime it is not fair or ‘trueto
say, as your paper does, that Mr.
Brown has a quarrelsome record.
He is. one of the oldest residents
in Grass. Valley, coming here in
1850; was never before arrested,
and is now a feeble old man sixty
years of age, who can’t walk well
. without acane. He was Deputy
Marshal for years in better days,
and now’ follows the humble occupation of saw filing, etc. This is
all I désire to say now.
Very truly,.
