the purpose of’ making a little political
capital, we hearsuch menas Montgomery,
who spent years in cursing thenation and
in aiding the ‘rebellion, denouncing the
Chinese from the hustings because they
‘never fought for the country.” The Chinaumen have this advantage over Montgom
ery ;,, they never encouraged men. to fight
»digainst* the country, The copperhead
panty cares no more about the interests of
the laboring man than does, Montgomery
about the men who fought for the ¢ountry, but the organization must have nourishment or it is dead beyond the hope of
