Take It All in All, the Human Family Is

It takes so little to make a man mad,

Somebody stepped on its tail, and although

the innocent many with the guilty one, as
the teacher. does when he keeps un entire

with the average man (and woman). We
will patiently endure great stress of physical pain, horrible mental anxiety, bankruptcy, desertion, and even the close brush

over some little cause of offense, and make

circumstances where to stay means to

I don’t suppose the dear-little maiden who
wrote to ask my counsel as to keeping one’s

can take advice as to a battle which he
must fight for himself, and no human heart
can susbstantially aid another to grapple
with and hold that wary and elusive foe,
the temper. Ajl we can do for one another
in this campaign for which we have been
drafted by destiny is to encourage and
counsel as we can, and leave the issue to
Heaven and our own endurance and grit as
faithful soldiers.
: * Bympathies of Sound. :
It is owing to the sympathetic communication of vibrations that persons with a
clear and powerful voice have been able to
break a large tumbler giass by, singing close
toits proper fundamental note, We have
heard of a case where a person broke no
fewer than twelve large glasses in succession. The sympathy of vibration shows itseif remarkably in the case of the golug-of
two clocks fixed to the same shelf or wail.
It was known near acentury ago that two
clocks set going on thesame shelf will affect
each other. The pendulum of the one will
stop that of the other, and the peudulum of
the clock which is stopped, after a certain
time, will resume its vibrations, and in its
turn, stop that of the other clock. These
effects are clearly produced by the small
vibrations communicated from the one pendulum to the other throvrh the shelf or rail
