“THe AMERICAN CONFLICT.”—Mr. Elhyder Hammond, agent of “The American
Conflict” by Hordce Greely, for this county, is now here soliciting subscriptions for
the work. It is without exception the best
man who feels an inferest ifi the events of
the past four years should have a copy.—
As it is only sold to subscribers, this will be
tlie only opportunity offered to secure it.—
Mr. Hammond is also agent for the Grass
Valley Union, and will visit the various
towns of the county with a view to increasing its subscription list. ‘
FLUME Broken Down.—The flume of
Snell & Co., at Scott's Flat, was broken
down last week by the weight of water, damaging theclaims to a considerable extent.
The flume got filled up ffom some cause,
and thé water was backed up. The damage
amountsto about $250,

THE WEATHER.—We have been favored
with magnificent weather for the past few
days, In many places around the town the
almend and peach trees are beginning to
bloom, and are in excellent condition to be
“nipped” by frost.
THE THEATRE.—The front wall of the
theatre is now almost completed, and workmen will soon be engaged upon the interior .
of the building. Every days’ work done .
now. shows tu advantage, and the house will
be ready for use, without doubt, by the Ist
day of May. — :
MovinG.—We noticed that W. H. Crawford was yesterday moving into his new
quarters on Pine street. The location is a
good one, and wheh fitted up the store will
be one of the neatest in the city.
