? Haftroad Meeting.
_ The grantees of the Nevada and
Colfax Railroad met at the Court
House yesterday afternoon.J. C.
Coleman acted “as .President and .
N, P.Brown-Secrétary. The Pres-ident announced that the railroad
bill having been passed, and’ was . :
now a law, the meeting. was called
for the purpose of suggesting plans
for organization. There. was considereble~ discussion as~to the best”
mode of-procedure, which—was-enDibble, Leech, Coleman, Sigourney
and others. .
On motion ‘of A: B. Dibble,a committee of four from Grass Valley, and
three from Nevada wus appointed to
solicit subscriptions and to prepare
all necessary papers for the purpose
of carrying out ihe provisions of -the
. bill, with fall powers. The Nevadu
delegation selected _M. L. Marsh,
N. .P. Brown, and BR: W, Tully.:
The Grass Valley delegation selected
John C, Coleman, -A. B. Dibble, R. .
Leech and: J. M. Lakenan.
Edward Coleman made<a motion,
and it was unanimously carried, that
a first class steam narrow gauge railroad be built, and that the capital
stock be fixed at $400,900; the number of shares to be 40,000, at $100
eaeh, and 15 per cent, of the amount
subscribed to be paid in on or before
Saturday next. The Nevada Cominjttee were requested to pay the 15
per cent. subscribed—inte-the Bank .
of Nevada County, and the-amounts.
subscribed in Grass Valley to be paid
-toJohn C. Coleman, .'The subscom.
mittee will meet in Grass Valley on
Friday next, at 11. o’¢lock. The
subscribers to stock will meet at the
Court House on Saturday afternoun
next at 2o’clock. All subscribers to
the stock who can not be present at
the meeting on Saturday’ are requested to be represented by proxy.

-. Elsewhere will be found an article
from the Grass Valley Union, relating to the Nevada city and Grasse}
Valley Lumber Co’s. tumber and
wood flume, The —article—in the}
) main, 18 correct; but the Union, like
all well regulated newspapers, will
get wrong once ina while, It says
the flume-will commence at, or about
Blue Tent, which is a mistake. A
very loug and’ expensive tunnel
~-would bave to be run to conduct water from Blue Tent to Nevada. city.
We presume our neighbor meant to
say, that one of the-owners lived at .
Blue Tent. The flume will commence at the head of Cascade ditch,
which is on Deer creek, instead of at
the place mentioned.

The rond contractors have completed a first class job, in repairing
Sacramento Street, It has been
turnpiked and graveled so that it is
one of the best road-ways in town.
If all the roads are fixed equally. as
well, fewer complaints than usual
will be made. The weather is just
tight for such work, and it is to be
hoped that contractors will avail
themselves of it, and expend. the
money paid by the’ people,so that
they will feel itis not thrown away.

It Recruits the Exhausted System.
The wear and tear of life affects us all
and there are times when the strongest of
us succumb tothe pressure upon the yital
forces exerted by anxiety, or sorrow, or undue mental labor, or bodily fatigue. At
such times the best and safest of all restoratives is Hostetter’s Stomach Bitters, ,The
puestimulant used in the preparation of
this genial invigorant is so qualified, temties, by the tonic, aperient and anti-bilious
vegetable preducts which it holds in sétution, that no unpleasant reaction ean ever
follow the first refreshing and renovating
effect of the medicine. This effect is not
transient but continuous, and wilt become
fore and more apparent every: day as the
Stomach, the liver; the bowels and the
nerves are, gradually brought-under the
sanitary influence ef this wholesome and
agreeable antidote te physical weskness,
low spirits and disease. Indigestiou yields
to its tonie and regulating action when all
the vaunted remedies of the pharmacopoeia
havé been uselessly exhausted. It is the
same with constipation and liver complaint
Even when violent purgation ‘and mineral
Stlivants have reduced ‘the dyspeptic, bilious and constipated invalid to deplorable state of debility and distress, the Bitters will restore the strength of the system
and impart tone and. regularity to the weakened and disord red organs. In every
phase of miasmatic disease, from simple .
fever and ague to the most obstinate maledies of a remittent type, the medicine may
be truly said to work wonders. The demand for it this season in all sections of
‘country subject-to the visitations. of this
distressing class of ailments, is larger than
at any former period during the last twentyfive years, and in fact its popularity is increasing everywhere. In eur. manufacturing towns, where close confinement from
merning till night in crowded factories
tells upon the health and spirits of the em
preciated and the consumption increases
with each succeeding year.
