LOCAL INTELLIGENCE.
Tur Nevapa MrinsTrEts.—Lew Keller’s Original Nevada Minstrels will give
an entertainment in the Theatre on Thursday evening of this week. The performance-will be of such a character that the
ladies can attend, and we hopé to see the
dress circle crowded. George Edmonds
will be conductor, and the ends will be
held up” by Keller, who is an old hand
at the business, and Bill Davidson; whois
-in_drollery,by any-means. }
This troupe is organized for the purpose of
amusing our citizens, and we hope
talent by turning out in fall force on
Thursday evening. The performance will
consist of burleques, songs, dances and
negro eccentricities. We predict that if
this troupe is well supperted by our people théy will give the best entertainment
of the kind ever witnessed since Backus
and Birch left the State.
Epwanrps’ SELF FEEDING HotpER.—
Chas. H. Moore i is-agent for an ingenious
self feeding pen holder for this coast. The
holder is supplied with a small reservoir,
and when charged, one is enabled to write
an entire page of foolscap without dipping
the pen in ink. The contrivance is pat’
ented by Edwards and may be used: with
any pen. Mr. Moore is canvassing for this
pen holder.
and found it very convenient.
FATIGUED.—Yesterday: afternoon an
hombre, fatigued from the effects of an
over dose of “tarantula juice” took a comfortable “snooze” on the side walk on
Pine street. Some mischievous fellow
placed a huge placard upon the inebriate,
on which was traced in large letters,
“For Sale.” He seemed oblivious to the
tramping of feet and snored as though
there was no such thing as a city officer.
After completing his “nap,” which lasted
about a couple of hours, he got up and
_ went staggering on his way.
HoMICIDE.—A Chinese restaurant keeper, named Ah Gee, was killed by another
Chinaman at North San Juan, on Sunday
evening, about 6 o'clock. The quarrel
grew out of a gambling dispute in a “tiger” shop on Flume street. Ah Gee received two stabs in the groin, one of
which passed through the body, severing
the femoral artery. He bled todeath ina
few minutes. The murderer was immediately arrested and taken in charge by
Constable Huckins.

the sure consequences of unbridled monopoly and

those who help themselves.”’ Those who will
not use the means of protection when offered, cannot consistently complain, if subjected again to
imposition, through their own eulpable neglect,
and made the spoils of opportunity. t
