New Telephone.
A writing telephone is the next
step in advance. Abbe Lobord is
its inventor. He proposes to separate the recipient, and to fix one of
the conducting wires to an iron plate
and the other to a stylus slightly
rounded at the extremity. Between
the plate and the point which are
intended to complete the circuit,» paper band, properly prepared, is caused
to move when the telephone is in operation,aud the black marks made on
paper will denote what the sound at
the transmitting end conveys, It-is
supposed the telephone can be so
arranged that it will record at one
end what is spoken at the other,
whether there is any one in the receiving room or not, and the absent
party cau read the message on bis
return.
