‘WEDNESDAY MORNING, MARCH 29,
: Tre Ricnest Taine Yet.—A lead was
yesterday struck en Gold Flat which bids
fair to-exeeed-—anything yet found in this
‘section of the céentry. The Nichols broths
ers some time since went to work near Wentworth's-mill, first satisfying themselves that
there were no claimants te the ground.—
They ran a tunnel under the bank of sawdust which had accumulated in the rear of
“the mill, when they strack-a quartz ledgemeasuring pine inches in thickness and filled with gold. An old miner informs us that
what rock they now have in sight, not more
than a ton, will pay at least $1,000. The
rock is easily gotten out and readily worked. .

A True FrencumMan.—We noticed in.
the Union of yesterday a letter from Felix
Gillett, of this city, on the duties of “A true
renchman.” Mr. Gillett has recently returned from a visit fo his own country and
is fully competent to speak of affairs as they
exist in his native lund. He loves liberty
better than he does Napoleon, and desires to
see the time -when every citizen of France:
shall have the benefit of an education and
be a freeman. vie
