performed 1 arrived in this city from the Kest
about ove year ago, and was then sullering from
an old case of Gleet, complicated with stricture.
Being a stranger in this city, and believing those
doctors who gave such positive assurances of
success were necessarily the best (sume of whom
have a large nunsber of titles,) I placed myself in
their charge and continued under their treatment
until I had lost nearly all hope and a considera
ble sum or money. I wish to say now that you are
the sixth Doctor I haveemployed, and the only.
one that has ever done me any seryice-My Gleetis wholly cured, the stricture is allremoyed, and
my generel health is better than it has been for
years. In conetusion . would say to the many
unfortunates who require medical advice, if you
have any doubt as to whom you may employ, ask
Dr. Doherty for my address and call and see me,

A desire to benefit humanity, ahd a feeling of
_ gratitude to Dr. W. K. Doherty, alone induces
mé to make this statement, ver many years I
have been, afflicted with that feartul disease
known as **Spermaterrhyea,” or Seminal weak
ness, the result of aclf-abuse, but till 1855 experienced but little trouble or inconvenience in that
year, however, L had Semimal weakness to an
alarming extent, which waa soon followed by
back and limbs. pain in the head, dimaese of vision, nervousnes* and general debility. My mind
too, was wlicted to such an extent as to serivusly impairmy memory.my ideas were confused
and spirits depressed, . 1 was averse to society,
had evil forebodings and sgelf-distrust aud was
entirely untitted for any of the duties of life.—

several hundred dollars but in mo insiauce, obtained more than temporary relief. (hod about

SPERMATORPHEA.
This disease arises from many causes, viz :—
youthful excesses: and indiseretions, stricture?
gravel, gleet, dyspepsia. . mercurial treatment
and éxcessive venery ; but in very many cases
where itis supposed to exist it is merely mental
induced by funetional dernngements of other organs of the body. It is adiserse that requires
surgical treatment, as it cannot be cured by medicine alone except in rare cases. It always, if
negiceted. leads to idiocy, insanity, or epileptic
fits in a shurter orlonzer time, .ecording to the
constitution of the sufferer; and it commences
always by affecting the memory first. Sufferers
