S. ——_—— LOCAL Bold Robbery at Gold Flat, Yesterday morning the cabin of Philip Manuel, on Gold Flat, was-en=: tered by a man and robbed of $12 50. The robbery—was one of the boldest that has ever been committed in this vicinity. Manuel has for some time been confined to the cabin with rheumatism, and is unable to getout. Yesterday morning, about 9 o’clock, a man came to the cabin door and attempted to open it. Manuel wept towards the door, when it was forced open and the robber rushed upon him with a large knie, raised, and said, “Get in you s-—n of ab—h, where is your money.” He then commenced a search, and took $12 50 from Manuel's pants pockets.— While he was doing this, Manuel got into an adjoining room, locked the door and halloed “murder” out of the window. The rogue then left the cabin. He igsup : the same man who was seen coming from Loughead’s cabin a short time since, after it. wae robbed, and is said to occupy an old cabin on Gold Flat. By some, trom his actions yesterday morning at Manuel’s cabin, he is thought to be insane. Bridgeport township, is.talked-of by many friends on the ridge, in connection with the Republican nomination for the Assembly. «Mr. Everett is well _known throughout the county.. In Bloom. Peach trees ini this locality are in bloom. ‘The trost will be very apt ‘to nip the early” buds and diminish the Crop it this‘logality, °° : Pgestion is sure to find some one among his There is an old preverb: which saye, “Experience is the safest guide.” To this gnide the sick and ailing naturaily turn when casting about for the means of relief. They inquire what a medicine has done for others, before they adopt it themselves. Of all the remedies and preventives in use, Hostetter’s Stomach Bitters meets the test most triumphantly, and hence its immense popilarity and vast sales. ‘I'he sufferer from indi~ friends who has been cured of that ailment by the famous vegetable stomachic. ‘The victim of fever and ague, liver complaint, constipation, nervous” aprostration, or general debility, has only to make inquiry in the neighborhood where he resides in order to discover what this standard restorative has effected in, cases similar to his own. In the publikhed testimony to its merits he wili find a volume of proofs to its sanitary properties, which it is impossible for his common sense to resist. He tries it, and the effect it produces upon his system adds another to the host of witnesses 1n its favor. Thus its reputation, founded on facts, not aesertions, continually grows and spreads. Charlatans and imposters, some of them mere local tricksters, and others who take a somewhat wider range, attempt to’thrust into the hands and down the throats of invalids, their haphazard concoctions, as substitures for the tonic which for 80 many years has beena medicinal staple throughout the United States, Spanish America, Canada, and the West Indies, bnt only succeed to a very limted extent. In this reasoning age, the peopls; -havingascertained what is resiiy deserving of their confidence, decline ‘running after strange gods.” PAIN KILLER! PERRY DAVIS & SON, PROPRIETORS, 1840. 1871.
