Whe Divoree Case. Ended.
“The case of Ennis vs. Ennis was.
coreluded in the District Court at a
Jate hour on Wednesday night. . The
Judge reserved his decision till 10
o'clock yesterday morning. The.
court room was crowded during the

of witnesses were examined. It was

a divorce on the ground of adultery.
Mrs. Ennis answered, denying the. New York, and are now being un-. ,

and. alimony. Some dozen letters
were introduced on the part of
the . plaintiff, which were written
by the defendant. to a man named
ferry, which were of the most affecfionate character; but she swore
that the object of the Tetters “were
for the purpose of giving her husband
grounds to procure @ divorce. The
Court decided that the statement was
jot sustained by the evidence. Judge
Reardan reviewed the case’ yesterand sustained the
charge made in the complaint and
granted Mr. Ennis a divorce.” In regard to the common property, asked
for by Mrs. Ennis, the Judge said
the whole of it was acquired by the

Scott's Flat.
The working of mining ground at
Scott’s Flat is very lively, and more
“gold will be taken out than ever before. All the companies, except one,
are being run to their full capacity,
night and day. ‘Ashburn & Co. have
had terrible bad luck this season
hy the caving of the bank, and were)
compelled to stop: work for some
time. Last week, while they were
sunning, one of the flumes gave way
and they lost about a tank of quicksilver and considerable gold. A day
or two since their large monitor
broke, which has compelled them to
stop work until it is repaired. Ht
«will cost $250 to have this done, and
they will not be able to resume work
again for a week or two. When they
get things to operate well, and get
fairly over their troubles, they will
take ont any quantity of gold, as they
surely have it in their claims.
Capitalists Arrived. '
ae number of English capitalists
arrived in this city on Wednesday
evening last, and are stopping at the
National Exchange Hotel. Professor Silliman is also here, together
with other prominent men of San
Francisco. Our mines are not only
attracting the attention of San Fran¢isco but English capitalists; The
Object of the latter to our city is for
the purpose of negotiating for the
purchase of the best placer mines on
this coast, those of Sargent & Jacobs
at Quaker Hill, and several} claims at
Blue Tent. _ oe
