Both these industries have been tried in
Nevada county and great success has
‘been attained. The wines of this lo_ eality have been btought into market,
and where care has been taken in their
manufacture they are highly esteemed.
There are thousands of acres in this
county that can be obtained *at low
rates, which would produce excellent
_ grapes—and this land should ‘be’ plant-_ed. Many papers of the State are calling loudly for immigration, and they
seem to hold that all we need is popu* lation: One fourth of the population .
