Late.—The Colfax stage was about
an hour béhind time yesterday, on account of one of the horses being taken
sick, between this city and Grass Val‘ ar Santa BaRBARA.—B. H. Collier,
formerly a resident of this city, has loeated-at Santa Barbara, where he has
opened a furni‘ure store, and, as we
learn, is doing a good business.
THE VELOCIPEDE.—The velocipede
appeared on the street for the ‘first time
yesterday, and attracted considerable
attention. Un Saturday afternoon at 3
o'clock the ladies and children who desire to see it go, will have an opportunity atthe Theatre. Quite a number
have expressed a desiro to see it ran.
New Booxs,—A _ large number of
new books will soon be added to the
Nevada City Library.”
Tur OVERLAND MonTHLY.—The
Overland Monthly for March, published
by A. Roman & Co. of San Francisco
has come to hand, filled as usual with
able articles, many of them of especial
interest to readers on this coast. In},
the magazine we -notice, “The San
Juan Difficulty.” “Six Months in the
Mud,” “How our Chinaihen are Employed,” “Footprints of Early ‘California Discovery,” “Up in Po-go nip,” and
a number of other interesting articles.
This magaziie is a California work,and
will in every particdlar compare favorably with the best Eastern publications.
The March number may be procured at

of the District Court will eommence on
