The telegraph says that the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on
March Ist reported favorably, and
without amendment, the ‘Coolie’
bill which pussed the House last
week. It also says Sargent and Page
have been active in procuring the
report in -advance. of the regular
‘meeting of the committee, and the
Pacific Coast Senators will unite in
strenuous endeayors to overcome
difficultiés in the way of obtaining
complete action by the Senate before
the close of the session. The bill
will be one step.towards reform, and . _
our representatives are deserving of
great credit for the persistent action
in the matter.

pathizes with Tarbox and Curtis,
and their unknown’ partuers. They
violated the law, and the penalty on
cenviction is the forfeiture of their
entire property. This would be all
right, did. they not involve in the
wreck the hard earnings of a great
many poor and industrious farmers.
