the character, energy and long mining experience of these men, we shall

Blomfield aud Moores Flat. We

energetically pushing their work forshaft, which will conduct the sarface water; is now more than half

been sumk.100 feet, and finding too
much sofface water to contend with,
they were foreed to stop the sinking .
and complete the drain tunnel, which
they are ranning day and night. All
of their machinery isin place, and
as soon as the strface water has
been drained, sinking will be resumed
with vigor; so that bedrock will be
reached by the first of Jane. Then
we expect.to bear of large results,
as that portion of the channel is
known to be very rich. The Moores
Flat Company hae as fine ground as
there is in the State. Their location is convenient; with plenty of
wood and water, for economical
working. The ability displayed in
the management, and the perseverance in overcoming every obstacle,
has given the community confidence
in the company’s final succéas.—
The Bald Mountain Mining Company have just cleaned up their dump
of _ gravel which bad sccamulated
during the dry weather, and taken
. over $200,000 in gold out of it, They
have over 150 men drifting in the
mine. They are in on the chdanel
about one mile, and have a small lo}comotive to draw the gravel out.
The locomotive has proven to be
very efficient. The mine is in
splendid shape, and .we. look for
large returns from theté this year.
The--North Bloomfield ~ Hydradlie
Mining Company have just made
their monthly clean ap.” From the
quantity of gold in the sluices, it
must have bééa’ large, aithodgh we

The Sweetiand Creek Mines.
_ The Scientific Press saya: "We see thy
land Creek mining company, on
property is located in Nevada county,
has concladed to wind up its affairs.
This gravel mine is owned entirely
in England, and of late they have
been unsuccessfal in their workThe mine bas heretofore been work

was spent on the plant by the company, although they bought the iron
and made the pipe on the ground.
Mr. McLean's idea in bidding was
that, perhaps, if the price of water
was reduced, he could work the side
dit ata profit, apart from which the
mine was of no value. The geueral
impression of the meeting beld ia

were not justified inkeeping up the
Organization, A resolution was offered and passed, recommending the
Directors to dispose of the property

meeting of the company to wind up,

agreed to, it was subsequently resolved to telegraph to Mr. Mclean
that the shareholders would accept

Tunxet.—There is some talk of a
