The excitement Trackes for a week,

matches, played at W. H. Hurd’s saloon,
between Blackman and Wilber. The
matches were carom games of 500 pointe,

In the Teast his largest run_was 38, and
Blackman’s 92. Wilber won by 54 points.
Considerable interest was manifested in the
contest, and a number of ‘outside bets were
made.
A Christian Chinaman.
Father Olaire informs us that he met, in
the mountains back of Washington, a Chris_ tian Chinaman. He was a convert of the
Boman Catholic mission in Canton, and is
_a firm believer in the Christian faith. This
Chinaman is well posted in Scriptural lore,
and appears to be a devout Christian.

Pat, Carroll, an old offender, was brought
down from Truckee yesterday by Steve Venard, and committed to the County Jail for
