Trustees, City MarshalTreasurer and Assessor are to be chosen, and there is every prospect for a spirited contest for all offices except that of City ‘Trustees. For the latter office quite a ‘number of names have been mentioned, and all those spoken of are good business men, and citizens interested in the welfare of the town. There seems to}. be a general disposition ‘among the peo-: ple to select such. *. The following persons are mentioned in connection with the office ‘of City Trustees: @le Torson, John Blasauf, B. F.Allen, T. H. Rolfe, A. B. Gregory, J, I. Caldwell, 8. B, Davenport and J. F. Bussenius. As scon-as this is done they--will commenee drifting and breasting out for the purpose of taking out cement, This mine was worked for some time, but in consequence of the breaking in of the waters of the canon and other misforparties who have the mine are experi~ enced miners, and as it is located upon make it pay well. The other cement claims in the vicinity are paying well, and the hydraulic companies at Red Dog and You Bet are all at work with flattering prospects, HELP to Answan.—The eum: Vak ley Union says: John Hastings, for an assault with a deadly Weapon, was held _ to answer before the next Grand Jury, by Justice Taylor. The deadly by which tar was spread upon sluice boxes. Hastings struck Mrs. O’Donnell with this weapdh, and she in turn threw a shovel at him. The parties were separated by a Mr. Smith; who came u and found Hastings choking Mrs. 0’Donnell. She has some marks of violence on her person. Hastings bond was put at $600, which he readily gave. THE THEATRE.—The Rand Sisters and company made their second appearance in this city on Thursday evening. The house was not as good as. the company deserved, but the audience’: was well ‘pleased. The singing by Olivia in the “Rustic Prima Donna’ Kitchen,” in which Rosa enacted the belle, kept the audience in uproarious laughter, The company commenced an engagement in Grass Valley last evening. —_— _ A REWARD,—The Scandinavian Mining Co., it is said, will offer a reward. for the recovery of the ‘money which was stolen from the cabin of Timothy F. ent the Goapetary, on Sunday Posrronzp.—The pic nics of the “ Congregational and” Baptist Sunday Schools, announced for yesterday, have _been postponed until further notice on account.of the storm.
