Wines were prohibited, but there was an abundance of good tea and excellent coffee, and none wept away thirsty or regretting the innovation in this particular. After enjoying the repast until all were satisfied, afew pleasant intpromptu speeches’ were made, in which due credit was given to the . ladies for their bounty in providing for the occasion and for the skill with which they had conducted all of the exercises, and att. elveo’clock the Patron ina short address brought the banquet to aclose. In returning guests were presented with numerous eo from the decorations, and all went away feeling that this was one of the best conducted and happiest events of the kind that it had ever been their lot to participate in.
