John Brown Back.
Sheriff Perrin arrived in this city
on Tuesday evening, having in charge
John Brown, who was lodged in jail
toawait trial under the indictments
agiiusthim. Some timeago the officersteceived official information that
Brown was an escaped convict from
San Quentin;.and had not served out
his time.
theGovernor and Attorney-General
Sheriff. Perrin took.Brown down to
San Quentin. Upon arriving there
he learned thut Brown had served
out a term for grand larceny of four
years, being sent under the name of
Marshall, from Siskiyou county. He
‘also learned that the authorities of
the State Prison construed the law
cape continues while he is at large,
aud to serve out his term under, the
before the expiration of the time for
which he was sentenced, and his
time would ran on while he is at
Jarge. Under these circumstances, . .
nothing remained but for the Sheriff . ~
‘to bring Brown back and hold him
here for trial, which’ he did, and
John Brown is again upon the hands
of the authorities in this county.
