“Heruld’’ again asserts thatthe Nevada County quariz mines are no
more extensive thin those of Placer,
although the Nevada County mines
ef that kiud have been known longer, and have been more thoroughly
developed. Now, we grant that
Placer County may have as many
ledges as any couuty in the State;
but ledges are not mines. It is developwent that makes the wine.
