‘‘Buzzing.”’
‘There is;@,.considerable amount of
buzzing among the Democrats of this
county. Their Primary meeting. will
be held on Satarday next, and a strong
effort is being madw to defeat Findley
in this. county. Ifthe Haightites vote
as numerously as they did in Colusa;
they may succeed in securing the delegation, bat the Findley men are tonfi.
dent of success.. Bets of two te one
are offered that. Tom Findley will se~
cure’the county delegation to the State
Convention, ‘The fight is warm in
Grass Valiey, and there is every indication of an exciting contest in that los
cality. The impression is that Fiadley
will have a straight vowe from Nevada
township. ‘The Democrats are evident
ly much interested, and buzzing is“ the
order of the day among them.
The Concert To-night.
Everybody should attend the concert to
be given by Philip Phillips, at the Congregational Church, this evening. Those who
stay away will miss a treat. The Petersburg
Index, speaking of Mr. Phillips’ . concert,
says: Notwithstanding the pross has heralded his wondeful powers, both as @ yocalist, and performer, wé were in no degree
prepared for such a treat as we realized.
If eloquence may be applied with propriety
to-musi¢; Mr--Phillips has an indisputable
right to-be eonsidered-asthe--Orater of+
Music, for he possesses the power of investing the simplest Sunday School hymn with
an irresistable charm, while his mastery
over the mostidifficult compositions is no
legs complete and absolute. ‘Scatter seeds
of kindness,” wrought a profound impresston, bub the “Shipwreck” was rendered
with a pathos; ‘and even dramatic effect almost indescribable.
Probate.
We stated a few days since that Chas.
McEivy, Public Administrator, had
made application for letters of administration in the estate of A. T. Reasoner,
deveased, Mr. McKIvy has made no
such application. Oliver P. Reasoner,
a brother of deceased made the application for letters, and the hearing has
been set for May 27th, at 10 o’clock,
