Wednesday evening, on the subject .
of “Home Influence on Education.”

views from the standpoiat of one
of varied and vast experience, endeavored in a logical and reasonable
manner.to impress upon “his hearers
the fact that education of children
must begin at home; and that borh

made a feature of special attention
in every household, as the children
advanced in years. But home must
be made attractive in order to: interest the rising generation in the pursuit of those adv antages Ww hich wil]
expand their minds and hearts at the
same time, he ‘wisely maintained.
How was this to be done? By~ pro=

Pilgrim's Progress,” the ‘Bible,

A Wife’s Devotion.
Charleton's wife has displayed for
her husband a devotion which is remarkable, ever since his arrest and
imprisonment for the murder of
Smith. ‘She has been in this city

of trial, and visiting him in the Jail
