“Emporia Suit.
A gentleman by the name of J. G,
W. Wilcox, who resides at Union
Hill, near Grass Valley, called on us
mention made of a suit having been
brought for the recovery:of the land
upon which the city of Richmond,
Virginia, is built. He informs us
that the suit was to have been commenced on the 1st of this month, and
he has been informed that a4 notice
of the fact’had been published in the
Sacramento Union or San Francisco
Chronicle. He says the land was left
to him by his grandfather, who purchased it from the Government, and
he has never been able to get conr
trol of it, not having money enough
to cominience ‘suit for its recovery.
Before the rebellion broke.out, he
had made arrangements with
parties’ to bring: an action, but
when the war commenecd the whole
matter was dropped for the time being: About.three. months ago Mr.
Wilcox to this city and presented the matter toJudge'T. H. Caswell,.
dence with Hons, Albert, Pike and
Robert Johnsen, and special arrangeyents were made with these gentlemen to’ commence suit. Judge Cas~ =

A Wholesome Stimulant That. is
Absolutely Pure. ~~
Physicians throughout the world agree as
to the necessity for diffusive stiradlants in
medical practice, but comp , and with
good reason, of the*impossibility . of obtainingthem pure, Phe diffichity here-pre.
sented would be a serious oné indeed, if the
class of agents was limited to the adulterated liquors and wines of tiade. It yanishes, however, when the absolute purity
and extraordinary ‘restorative properties of
Hostetter’s Bitters are taken into consideration. As a stimulant!the article is absolutély free from everything’ objectionable;
but this isonly one of its recommendations.
. Ifit were nothing more than an excitant its
effects would bé fleeting. It might refresh
and revive'the system for a few minutes,
but could preduce no‘ ‘permanent benefit.
The stimulating elements of the Bitters isa
means, not anend. .The tonic, anti-bilfous,
depurative and aperient vegetable juices
combined in the preparation are the agents
that impart vigor andregtilarity to. the
weakened and disordered organization, the
spirituous principle being chiefty useful in
‘diffusing their influence through the system and otherwise fucilitaiing ‘their operation. Alcohol, even in i:s purest form, is
not somuch a mediciné ds & motive power,
by which the specifics of the vegetable kingdom may be brought to bear upon the debilitated an‘ disordered organs that require
renovating and regulating; and it is in this
way that the pure essence of rye incerporated in Hostetter’s Bitters increases the
efficiency of the purely medical ingredients.
