Cushing’s Great Tented Show te Soon Appear at this City. As will be seen by the double column advertisement, and by the large and handsome posters that adorn -thedead-walls of the city, Cushing’s Great Overland and Ocean to Ocean Circus, as it is called, will be at this place on Saturday evening, June 6th. The tent will be spread on the meadows near the Half Mile House, and will be’big enough to accommodate every man, woman and child in Nevada City who wants to see the. performance. When Mrs. Mary Faulkner was taken to the county jail Saturday night to be locked up on a charge of robbery, Jailer Carter found in her pocket a large six-barreled revolver, every chamber of which was heavily loaded with powder and ball. As George Rogers, a young boy, was being locked up in the same institution to await examination for grand larceny, a long:and ugly looking knife was found on his person. Sadie Vance, a weak sister of Spring street, was arrested Monday evening for disturbing the peace by using abusive language towards Allie Sampson, an inmate of ‘‘the Palace.” The fair but frail Sadie pleaded guilty, and Justice Sowden fined her $5 which she paid. : The gang arrested for grand larceny in rolling Charles Schwallenberg had their preliminary examination-_yesterday in Justice Wadsworth’s court. All but Dick May were discharged, he being held for trial in the sum of $1,000. Testimony was introduced to show that May pawned the stolen watch, afterwards giving it to Henry Coon who returned it to its owner. Jack McCarthy, arrested for disturbing the peace, pleaded guilty and Justice Wadsworth fined him $5, which he paid. Decoration Day Notice. Masons and their families are requested to send flowers arrariged in bouquets, wreaths, etc., to Masonic Hall by nine o’clock Saturday morning, the same to be used in decorating the graves of deceased Masons. other San Francisco Knights of their brethren at Stockton aud Sacramento,are trying to get up an excursion to come to the Pythian picnic at Storms’ Ranch on. the 10th of next mionth. If they can make the arrangement they seek to regarding reduced rates, a good many of them will bring their families. A Scene of Activity. Glenbrook is a scene of activity these days in consequence of the preparations being made for the district fairthere. Teams are engaged in plowing and men are acres which will be enclosed by the track.
