Cushing’s Great Tented Show
te Soon Appear at this City.
As will be seen by the double
column advertisement, and by
the large and handsome posters
that adorn -thedead-walls of
the city, Cushing’s Great Overland and Ocean to Ocean Circus,
as it is called, will be at this place
on Saturday evening, June 6th.
The tent will be spread on the
meadows near the Half Mile
House, and will be’big enough to
accommodate every man, woman
and child in Nevada City who
wants to see the. performance.
The management gives assurance
that it is a chaste, moral and
unique exhibition, containing the
most marvelous and novel features
arenic genius can -suggest. The
array of talent comprising the
constellation ofstars includes
Pauline Walton, the principal
lady rider; the Tenbroeck Sisters, known to. the profession as
the Queens of the Air; Mme.
Aida, who walks head downward
along a pole of rings, and has thus
won the titleof the Human Spider; William Wilton, who, rides
four horses at one time; George
Dalton, who does wonderful juggling acts while mounted on: the
bare back of a running horse;
Mons, Nelson, the man with the
muscles ofiron; the petite acrobats, Peteand Joe; two or three
excruciatingly funny clowns; the
4 Walter Brothers, who are the acknowledged Kings of the Flying
Trap2ze, and about whom a love
sick maiden of Grass Valley once
wrote after seeing them perform in
Forepaugh’s—
“They flew throughthe air with the great_
est of ease,
Those daring young men on the flying
trapeze;
Their movemenis so graceful my heart they
did seize,
Those utterly sweet lads on the trapeze.”
Mme. Aimee and the_ brothers
La Crosse also do trapeze business. One ticket’ admits to the
whole show, tio catch-penny arrangements in the way of sideshows being allowed.
—~ They Went Heeoled.
When Mrs. Mary Faulkner was
taken to the county jail Saturday
night to be locked up on a charge
of robbery, Jailer Carter found in
her pocket a large six-barreled revolver, every chamber of which
was heavily loaded with powder
and ball. As George Rogers, a
young boy, was being locked up
in the same institution to await
examination for grand larceny, a
long:and ugly looking knife was
found on his person. The arresting officers take desperate chances
in neglecting tosearch their prisoners upon first capturing them.

Washed-Out Hair.
There is a sort of pallid, chalky
complexion which the novelists
calla ‘‘washed-out complexion.”
It is ghastly enough, and no mistake. Washed-out, faded, discolored, or parti-colored hair is repulsive and melancholy. Parker’s
Hair Balsma will restore your hair
to its original color, whatever it
was; brown, .auburn or black.
Why wear moss on your “head,
