Experience has demenstrated that few ledges in this county, with fivurdble indications on the surface, fail to p:y well when the water level is reached. Cliims which do not improve frum the ‘surface duwn, are an exception to the rule. The improved methods of working quartz, and. the decreased expense, haa encouraged our jminers to resume work upon many of the ledges abandoned years ago, and many of them are now ranked sarong the best'in the county. The recent Giscovery of plager diggings, whieh, rival those of '49 and 750, -inrichness, above Eureka, in this county, and just across. the. county line; in Sierra county, prove the fiulsity of this opinion.
