Assessment Levied.
___At the last meeting of the Board
of Council of the Miners’ Association, assessment No. 5 was levied,
being. at the rate of three-quarters of
ene per cent. on the assessed value
of the property of its members for
State and county tuxationgfor the
year 1879. Owing to the passage of
the ‘Debris Bill” by the Legislature, it is believed that the very vex~. atious and costly litigation which the
members have been conducting wil
soon be finally ended. It ie believed that the present assessment will
fully defray all legal and other costs,
and that it will not again be necessary to tax members, except for
such small sums as may be required
to keep the Association alive,
