Reese River Reveille, of May 5th
about the death of George W. Lenhart, whom all old s« ttlers wiil remember and-of whom, none knew
anythiag but good: ‘Again we are
called upon to chronicle the death of
a pioneer, a duty which bas deyolved on us but too frequent of late.

The funeral took place at half-past
-two-e’clock this afternoon, under the
auspices of Pioneer Hook & Ladder
Co., No. 1, of. which deceased was
Foreman at the time of bis death,
having occupied that position for
four. consecutive terms, and was
largely attended by the Fire Department, the Society of Reese River
Pioneers and friends and acquaintances of deceased. ‘Pho flags to-day
are at half-mast and_Firemsn’s Hall
draped in mourning, in respect to.

It is wonderful, 4o observe how
nearly all the great’ thinkers of the
age, while themselves devoted christians, steadfastly refuse to range
themselves under the banner of
ehurchism. Spencer, Tyndall, Darwin, Haxley, Emerson, Carlyle,
host of others in-the very front rauk,
all remain outside of. church-fellowship. In-the political world of reformers, the result is yet more
striking, seeming to indicate that as
