THE MoHAwk AND MoNTREAL.— The Mohawk and Montreal Mine, in Meadow Lake Township is yielding first-rate. On the 2d instant they struck, in thé east drift, upper shaft, a stratum: of sulphuréts from fifteen to eighteen inches wide, which averaged $176 88 to the ton. These sulpharets were tested by the Chlorine process and yielded at the rate of $212.50 to the ‘ton. The company is satisfied with the permanency and richness of the ledge, and propose to work it contin uously all Winter. The mill is now running, and the amalgam upon the plates looks firstrate. Théy will ‘have a clean up about the 12th or 15th. The first snow storm of the season, at the mine, occurred on last Thursday, covering the ground to . the depth of nine inches. The weather has since been fine but decidedly wintery. Auction SaLE—Rare CHANCE FOR sell at the auction room, at the junetion of Main and Coyote streets, on Wednesday, at 11 o'clock a. Man entire lot of household furnitureand embelishments. Everything of utility or convenience to house-keepers will “be disposed of, besides a number of home ornaments. A Brocatelle parlor set, Stuart’s cook crockery, mirrors, cooking utensils; &. &c., will be sold, all of which are in good order and repair. All ‘in need of such articles are requestéd to beon ‘hand. Lh Rou oF Hunor.—The Roll of Honor of the Oakland Public School for the month ending Oct. 30th, 1868, contains the following names: Olivia Burnell, Isa McKeon, Annie O'Donnell, Amelie Bouvier, Ida Bouvier, Tenie Riebold, Mary Wheldin, Mary McAvin, Ellen McLean, Emma Stenger, Ada Stilwell, Sarah Thompson, David McLean, Chas. Hughs, Albert Ismert, Charles Stebbins, Joseph Hoskins, John Burnell, Willard Nichois, Lelan Johnson. WE have again to acknowledge the receipt of Virginia City and San Francisco papers, laid upon our table before the distribution of the mails by the ac~ commodating agents of the Pacific Union—Geo, W. Kidd & Co. Gentlemen, accept our thanks: THE TANNER PaRaDE.—The Tanners will meet this evening at 7 o’clock for a parade in honor of the election. of Grant and Colfax. There will be, after the march, a dress parade of the battalout of service. Let every Tanner be on hand. : THE Youn@ TANNERS—We understand the young Tanners will have their parade on Wednesday. _ They will meet at the Club room for that purpose at 6 o'clock P.M. HoMICIDE aT SPENCEVILLE.—George Folks was fatally stabbed by Adolph ’ Kacher, at Spenceville in this county on lest Sunday evening. The row occurred in Wm. Gay’s hotel. Folkes who was intoxicated, approached Kacher and struck him a blow. The latter got out of his way, but was closely followed, when he pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed Folkes in the left breast, inflicting a wound from which death resulted in a short time. Katchér* is a blacksmith, and at the time of the difficulty was very feeble, having just recovered from sickness. THE TaNNERS INVITED.—The Ne-— , vada Tanners have been invited to Sac ramento on to-morrow, W ednesday evening, to unite with. the Sacramento Union men ina jollification. The citizens of that place have appointed a committee of arrangements and are bound to have a bigtime. The invitation to the Tanners is signed by_Jas. McClatchey, D. W. Clark and Wm. M. Siddon, Committee of Invitation. THE StaTE.—The Union of yesterday claims the State for Grant by over CAUTION! a 4% PERSONS.
