Death of John Sneath.
John T, Morgan yesterday. reeeived a telegram announcing the death
Jolin Sneath, who left here last Friday for his home at Pioche, Nevada.
Mr. Sneath, who was a_ brother-inlaw to Mr. Morgan, .had for two
months been.inthis city, Grass
Valley. and San Francisco for the
benefit of bis health, having suffered
a great deal during the past year
from consemption. He will be remembered ty all o'd residents as one
of the owners of the Sneath & Clay
mine in this district which some
twelve yesrsago developed.one of
the ri¢hest bonanzas ever struck on
the Coast. “Messrs. Sneath and
Clay both realized .a great many
thousand dollars in a short time
from the property, but as with most

Dan DeQuille of ‘Virginia’ City,

section in early days, has been reading the accounts of Major Downic’e
recent prospecting trip to Alaska and
