In the United States Circuit Court last week, Juge Sawyer gave judgment in favor of the defendant in the well known case of “the Pioneer Gold Mining Company vs. BenjaminF. Baker, involving the title to the above named company’s mine in Sierra county, The case has been in court for the last four years and came up Thursday on the exceptions of the parties to the report of Master in Chancery Houghton. Baker was mortgagee in possession of and working the mine, the plaintiff having the right to \ redeem by the payment of Baker’s -.-.@laim, The accounting involved. finding for the defendant in the sum of $74,000. Judge Sawyer overruled all objections and confirmed the Master’s report, which gives the company the mine upon the payment of the $72,000. The Pioneer Gold Mine. is one of the ‘most valuable hydraulic mines on the coast. ( ‘Close of the Mission. Today the Mission in the Catholic Church will close. There will be three masses’ in, all, the first at 6 o’clock a. m., the second at 8, and the third at 10:30. In the evening at 7:30 the Rey.
