ALLEN MINERAL SPRINGS.
‘Moore's Fiat, No”. 13, 1876, —
Mi R. Eprron:—1 deem it a duty I owe to
ee s
Lic
thesick and suffering,to call theatten. of the public to the deservedly popu.
lar Allen Mineral Springs, in Lake county.
It is known tosome that Ihave been an
invalid since 1863. Last May, hearing of
the Allen Springs, I visited them, and was
induced to give them a trial. Ina few
days I felt a decided improvement, ahd for
the first four weeks my symptoms were
vari.us. Sometimes worse and then better but onthe whole the feeling vf returning health was predominate. I pergevered, and now am rewarded with « complete restoration to health.
The waters have been analyzed by Prof.
W. T. Wentzell of San Francise o, and
found to contain chloride of sodium, magnesium and potassium, bicarbonate of magnesiuin sodium, and calcium, sulphate of
sodium, phosphate of iron, silica, carbonic
acid. ‘The water is strongly aerated with
earbonic acid, with the salts of sodium,
and magnesium, and phosphate of iron
pre.ominating, therefore the medicinal
value of the water ls superior. The location is one of the pleasautest to be found
in the Coast Range; its walks are shaded
by forest trees, of fir, spruce, live oak etc.
The climate is not surpassed anywhere on
the Coast, the air being very balmy and
pure. The altitude is about.2,500 feet
above tide water, and the winds are broken
by mountain ranges, Rorth and south. The
average maximum temperature is about
8°. Ihave known persons to visit these
springs for only three or four weeks and
return home cured—cured of some longstanding complaint. In chronic cases
more tine is usually required to eff-ct
permanent éures., From what I have lesrned cf mineral waters, I am satisfied there
are none superior, if equal, to the Allen
Cnhalybeate, Sulphur and Soda Springs,
and I gratefully and cheerfully, without
solicit tion, earnestly recommend them to
the public patronage. The proprietors are
gentlemen, attentive to the wants of visitors, making sll ‘fee. ‘al home during thei
stay with them. \
