John I. Caldwell urged that the
convention express itself in favor of
President Cleveland, Congressman
Biggs and Chief Justice Searls. He
believed that the main object of such
a convention as the present is to voice
the sentiment of the people.
J. E.Carr said the committee,evidently thought it not necessary to endorse Cleveland, and that if they endorsed him it would be necessary to
endorse Biggs which latter act would
be ill advised under existing circum:
