mated at 21 miles, and it is necessary
to raise $21,000 before the incorporation
ofthe Company. -The-entire amount
could have been raised in Nevada, but
it is proposed te give Grass Valley a
chance in the Company. The following

secured had the effurt been made. We
understand a meeting of the sabscribers will be held early in the coming
week; and the subscribers will then de
cide upon a course to be pursued. The
company will be incorporated aad steps
taken te secare the object. In this

One can hardly pick up a newspaper or
tarn a street corner now-a-days, that he does
not find, staring him in the face, the an~
nouncement that Prof. So-and-so has distovered a medicine which is a panacea for the
ill» that Mesh is, or may be heir te. These
“wonderful” discoveries usually have an ex.
istence of a few months, then disappear trom
public notice. The reason of their sudden extinguishment is’apparent. They were humbugs: Ast the ontsetall medical preparations
have an equal chance for sueeess, as all are
equally unknown ; but the chaff is soon winnowéd from the grain by the practical test
which an unprejudiced public applies to ail
things. There are but few preparations of
medicine which have withstood the impartial
judgment of the. people for any length of
time. One ofthe few which we now haye in
mind, and which has been a long time familiar
to nearly every household in tne land, is the
celebrated Hostetter’s Stomach Bitters. Their
almost universal tale and use, and their ems peer pany te t a oh om ee

their favor.—{Extracts from the Muscadine
