LiveLy CoLLectinG.—Our County Collertor, T. T. Davenport, has been doing
‘land office business” for the past -week, in
the way-of collecting taxes. On Saturday
he collected over $10,000, and on Monday
about $25,000, The coliections for the
present moaoth, including licenses, etc., will
amount to more than $60,000. But few
names will go over to the delinqtent list.—
The Collector will, hand his books over to
the Distriet. Attorney on the first of next
mébtb. Until that time, no more property
taxes can be paid. {
" THANKSGIVING.— Arrangements have
been made by our business men to close up
on Thanksgiving Day. This is, right. The
day should be also observed by every man
in the land, as a day of rejoicing. Men
can all afford to give up business and its
cares for ‘one day. Let every home in the
land be a place of joy tosmerrow. Let
those whose tables groan under rich repasts, remeurber the poor eround them and
send cheer to their bearts. ,
Nevapa County Oompany.—The com«
pany recruited by Geo. D. Kendall in this
county, has been musteredinto service, and
the following officers commissioned: Captain, George D. Kendall; First Lieutenant,
m. MeNeill; Senior Second Lieutenant,
E iwia Darling. We understaud that the
company will be stationed at the Pfesidio,
San Francisco.

ENLARGING.—Mr. Adams, proprietor of
the New York Hotel is making additional
accommodation for the traveling and eating
public. An additional building is being
erected. When the contemplated improve»
ment is completed, twice the number of
people can be accommodated in the Hotel.
