prise Lead, Excelsior District, willbe warked without interruption during the Winter.
A large and substantial buildiag “has been
srected over the ‘mine, té protect it from
the heavy snuws, und ample supplies of
wood and provisions have been laid up to
last until the melting of the snow in Spring.
Six hundred tons of splendid ore, ate already
, out and ready for working. A splendid
_ mill, made by Gross & Lambard of Sacramento, is already on the ground, and will
be put up at an early day. The crushing is
to be done by rollers instead of stamps.—
The owners have been offered $250 per foot
~~ for the mine, but none can be bought even
‘ at that price. We were showh by Mr.
Crandall, one of the owners of the claims,
an assay made by Rhien, Humme & Co.
which showed in gold ‘and silver, $45,888
88 cents per ton of two thousand pounds.—
Rock has been tested at the mills in this
vicinity, in Virginia and at San Francisco,
and a sinall vlot has been sent to Swansea.
It has paid fromrtne hundred ‘and sixty to
two hundred dollars -to the ton without
working the sulphurets. The lead is forty
feet wide in pay rock, and frequently when
blasts are put in, tons of rock, in any piece
of which free gold and rich sulphurets may
be seen, is broken off. This is one of the
best leads ju the State, and the success of
this Company in developing so good a mine,
isan excellent indication of the future of
the Districtin which it is located.
Tae Waienam Leap:—The Pittsburg
mill loeated on Gold Flat, better known as
thé old Whigham Mill, has been unworked
for nearly two years. The mill is a very
good one and the mine isone of the best in.
this vicinity. The property is owned by
Dr. Merritt acd Bowen, of San Francisco. \
and it is said they will not sell for less than
$75,000. The lead was last worked by
Weeks &.Co., who held a lease for three
years, paying $150 per-mouth, Daring.
eighteen months working time they took out
$120,000. All the rock crushed averaged a
little over $20 per ton. At the close’ of
their lease they could not agree with the
owners, on terms, for a new lease and the
mine has not been worked since. It is a
shame that so valuable a mine is permitted
to remain unworked. We hope ‘the propritors will soon commence operations vn their
mine or sell out, for a reasonable price, to
some parties who will. If San Francisco
capital is to be invested in this style we sin_ cerely hope they will keep their coin at home
or invest it insome other county,
Rich SPECIMENS.—We learn that splendid rock is now being taken from the claims
of the New York Company, on-Gold Flat.
A number of specimens have been found
completely studded with gold. The ore, is
said by those who are good judges to be as
fine as any ever found in the county.
Break Down.—The San Juan stage ran
into astump, on Wednesday night, about'a
half mile out of San Juan and capsized.—
The pole was broken and some other dam.
age done and passengers were compelled to
take ‘‘walkers line” inte town.
LIVELY.—The city appeared exceedingly
lively yesterday. A large number of miners
were intown buying iron pipe, hose and
other utensils for the prosecution of their
work. The ladies tuking advantage of a lull
in the storm, were out in large numbers,
and the way in which shopping was done,
was a fright to scanty purses. All the merchants were busy, and. no donbt footed up
their cash accounts at night, with a good
deal of satisfaction.
Grover & Baker.—The Traveling
Agent of the Grover & Baker Sewing Ma‘ chine Company, F. J. Mette, is now in Ne
vada, and will be here for a few days only
where he will be happy to meet’ sil persons
having the Grover & Baker Machine. All
persons wishing fie Agent to cal upon’

} tban without, and also that diseases hitherto
deemed incurable, can be cured by this system,
but the directors desire to take this opportuaiity
to inform invalids that the Resident Physician
is a regular graduate and has had large experience in the treatment of disease. both with and
without the assistance of elertricity ; he has also
discovered. scyeral ‘eclectic’? Vegetable. remedies that will cure almost any nameable disease,
which he will send with full instructions for
use, to any part of the Pacifiic coast, upon receipt of. a complete description of the disease
with which the applicaut may be afflicted, and
will warrant a complete and perfect cure in all
cases wherd the medicines are used according to
directions and more especially. in all cases of
Female troubles, where great onre and caution
are necessary to a favorable result. From early
morn until late at night, this instrument is employed, imparting health and strength to all who
are so fortunate aa to obtain ite services. Dis.
eases (which by the old system) took months, or

the Old system, besides the saving of time.
Connected with this system are the renowned

than which there is no more powerfn) auxiliary
im the world for the radical cure of disease.
There is no institute in the State Where the
electropathic system ‘is practiced, except at the
Electropathic Institute,
645° Washington street.
This Institute was established to, if possible,
prevent the unwary trom falling into those dens
of robbery (yclept quack doctors’ eras and
hereafter the scientific originators of this Institute will not be to blame if the afflicted are
robbed of their money, and injured in constitution. There is also another view of the affair.
The rising geogantion should be reared with
strong constitution, and the Directors wish to
arouse their siemens to a proper sense of
their duties in their premises, if possible to
prevent them from st(iffing their young charges
with deleterious drug's. with a chance of entailing upon the tender constitution just forming,
a complication of evil», a thousand times worse
than death.
It would be consuming space, to no purpose,
to enumerate ‘the diseases to which this system
is applicable. suffice it to say, that there is no
disease} within the erelogneor human ills but
what can be cured at the Wiectropathic Institute.
We have instructed the Resident Physician to
warrapta perfect and permanént cure, or ask no
no pay for services, when in his judginent itis .

CAUTION.
Persons seeking the Electropathie Institute,
should be careful to remember the name and
