SATURDAY MORSING, NOV.
‘AxoTHer Horet.—Anvther joint stoek .
company hab been formed, inadé up mostly
: of property holders en Broad street,;-to evn.
struct a hotel on the. riting of the old Na.
tional Exchange." It is reported that the
Jot aus ruins have been purchased for the
purpose, and that a company with a capital
stock of fifteen thousand dollars, has been
fully organized. Subsequent to the act of
organization a move has_heen made to increase the capital stock to twenty thousand
dollars, in order to make an itien to the
former dimensions of the hotel. We. have
not seen the subscription list, but learn it is
under the tutelage of men of large means
and that there is ‘slready subscribed the full
amount of the capital stock, twenty thou«
sand dollars.
The company met at the office of ‘A: A.
Sargent on Thursday evening ana eumpleted
‘the organization by the election. of Cipt
Kidd, John Caship and James Monro, true.
tees, and C. C. Leavitt treasurer and nec.
retary Twenty per ce.t. of the capital was f
“to be paid in yesterday, tue purchase-of the
materials completed, and the work may be
suid to be fairly commenced:
One of the stockholders informs us that
thé interior of the building will be subdivided
on alefitire new plan and the bote) will be
one -of the best arranged in the State, besides being fire proof, and will be ready for
the public in fifty days. Immediate steps
will be taken to preserve the standing walls
_ and repair them, and new walls will be pul
Mp under cover in spite of the weather.
Hrarp From,—Rufus Shoemaker, formerly clerk of this county, bas been heard
from in Bragg’s army. He writes that the
times are pretty rough. but he is confident
all will be well by and by. So it will—the
Union. will “triumph. over its enemies the
world over. Bet your lite on it, .
ARremus Warp —Dhis peculiar genine
lectures this night at the Baptist church.—
It is supposed wit will flow freely ou this
occasion, for Artemus is up to that. Doubt?
Jess there will be a fine crowd out, as the
fame of “A. Ward” has preceded him many
a month and league, and the ladies and gentlemen of Nevada have hed nothing to laugh
at, since Whitesides made a Judy of himself for the publié.
To BE SOLD.— We understand the ruine of . 8
the Kelsey block in front of the Taanscripr
office, and the lots they occupy, ‘will be sold
in about six weeks. It is a-fine site for business, and whoever gets the place will probably not regret the purchase. .
“THANKSGIVING. Thanksgiving passed off
in the usual way. People in general indulyed
inextra dinners; and went to hear an extra
~ sermon by Rev. John B. Hill in the evening.
Won't, Warr.—Isoard “had thought of
waiting till spring and then vrect a» brick
buildiog on his lot on Broad street. But he
—Wwon't wait. The workmen are piling up the
bricks and mortar already, and before many
days he will have a brick etore and full of the
best liquors to be had in the market.
a
EF’ Marshal Davidson will be at his office
om Broad street, this afternoon, for the purpose of receiving city taxes. On Monday
" next will be the last day for property hdlders
to pay their taxes before costs are added.
