Aevada Daily Transcript,
TUESPAY MORNING, NOV. 29th.
Mixixc Prospects across THE YvuBA.—The miners have plenty of water now,
aud every camp above Lake City. is active.
cipated a fevorable season and: were in most
eases prepared and watting for water when .
itcame. Claims that have remained anwork~
ed for years have been “set inorder,’ cuts
have been dug, sluices laid, and since the
rain, water has been turned on and immense
quantities of guldvearing soil is being washed.
At North Bloomfield the Dutch Company's
<¢laims-were sold two weeks ago for $9000.
The new owners commenced work oa last
Friday: They are extensive claims and will
pay ‘a large amount. _ The Villa .Rica dig
for years, are being fitted up, and the owne
ers are confident of large yields. The same
activity prevails at every town and camp
from French Corral to Eureka. Nevada
county will pour out, her golden treasures
with liberal tand to those who. toil‘in her
mines during the coming: season.
THe AMOUNT OF WATER.—We leam
frooy C. H. Horton, that up to 10 o,clock
on Sunday last, 9 iiches of water bad fallen,
and from that time up to 8 o'clock yesters
day, 1} inches more water had fallen, makiog
in paul up to Monday morning, 109 inches
since’ the. commencement of the storm,
according to the rain guage kept at the office
— eee 4
DaAMAG& OF. PHE STOKM.—On last Sun
day night the flume of the South Yuba Canal,
leveled to the ground. We suppose many
others were blown down in various parts of
the county. We are informed that in many
places large trees were snapped off and blown
down by the wind. Ditches had to b8 cut
and waste gates opened to prevent the accumulating volume af.water from breaking
over the banks.
Cok Court, November 28th.—Fred
Discharged
from bis debts.
, Th People ve. Rouse, indicted for grand
larceny. Jury partly empanneled, and
Court adjourned till this morniig at 10
<— K,
Upwarp Tenpency.—The South Yuba
river at Cooper & Co.’s bridge, rose nine
feet on Saturday last. We are informed
that large quantities of drifteweod passed
under the bridge. Further down the river
toward Jones’ Bar, the ‘“‘traps’’ and fixtures
of the miners, who were engaged in working
out the river bed, were allewept away.
ANOTHER @LD Nevapan Honorep.—
John S. Maybugh, an old resident of this
county ,and an henest miner, hae been elect~
ed to the Assembly of Nevada from Esmeralda county. . :
Awning Down.—The neat awhing in
front of the assay office of J. J. Ott. was
completely carried away by the wind on}
Sunday.
CATCHING Gritse.—Jobn Belden, Esq.
who-has been in the mountains since the
storm ccimmenced, informs us, that he saw
numbers of grouse along the road, so.chilled
and wetby the rain that the poor things
could not fly. He took advantage of their
cruel man!
THe county officers won't move from their
quarters inthe Baptist Church until after
the storm has abated. At the present
writing, we should judge the conaty officials
were permanently fixed.
