, «Bae Covongn's Inquest.—The following synopsis of theevidenee given before
the Corner, was furnished*by a gentleman
who was presect during theexamination, in
reference to the explosion of the boiler at
the Pennsylvania mill: —
The testimony of all who visited the house
where the deceased was found, was, that in
their opinion, it was toru down by the boiler_in its pussuge. ‘The deceased when
found, was lying upon her back on the floor,
witha ebair under lier and her head hangiag 4
over the sill of the house. When found she
wae dead. Those who assisted in taking
her out of the ruins, neticed thather scalp
was badly cut, her skull broken in, and the
prain exposed. Dr. R. M. Hunt. testified
that upowexamining her head, he found the
skuil-sufficiently fractured to cause: death.
From the testimony of Mr. Collier (which
was not reduced to writing by the jury) it
would seem that the accident, was occasioned by the mest wanton neglect, and carelessness ou the part of the engineer. The
accident in his opinion, was oczasioned: by
improper treatment of the engine. It seems
that while the pump was working very
slowly, the engine had been blowing off
steam for:nearly ‘half an. hour, until the water was exhausted, and the flues overheated,
when the introduction of a’ mere than ordinary amount ot cold water caused the flues
‘to collapse. .
The jury found a verdict in accordance
with the above testimony.

Pennsylvania mill, this afternoon at3 o’clk.
Friends and acquaintances are invited to attend.
