It has been found that the red and orange colored soil of our bille is among the most valuable for. fruitculture andespecially for graper. . Now, we have a -fair instance of the predugtiveness of the hill evil of this vicinity before us.. Having geena remarkable-qantity of —Btapes in the small vineyard of E G. Waite, on Piety Hill, we bad a» curiosity to learn thé amount when guthered, and applied for the figures. The following are the facts :— The vineyard has 36 rows one way and 22 the other. The vines are six feet apart » each way. Any person who coptributes ten dollere or over to the fund in persou or through the treasurer of any “Soldiers Aid, Society” will receive one of these certificates, duly executed. It would be an ornament to any parlor and at the same time give evidence that the t holder has ministered to the sick and wounds ed of the army.
