The returns of the Judicial election show large Republican gains in
every part of the State, and it appears now that the majorities will be
fally one third more than at the September election: The unpopiilarity:

A Suggestion.
~ ‘Tehas been suggested that as such
ample provisions have been made for . Dili
the Chicago sufferers, that petitions
be circulated, requesting the Central
Gommittees of the Republican and
Democtatic parties of this ty to
the polls to Wisconsin. While the
Committees would not feel authorized to do this without a desire being
mhanifested by thie people, Wisconsin
has suffered much more than Chicago in loss of life from fire; and whole
—agonties have been destroyed, —As}——~
-yet bat litle aid has been sent to
these sufferers, while the whole country and Europe has been contributing to.Chicago.
Since the above item. was. written
the matter has been talked of among
citizens and the factis developed that
many of the contributors prefer sendCentral Committees think that it
would be improper to divert the money from the purpose for which it was
intended. They think, if necessary,
another effort may be made for the
Wisconsin sufferers.
