There were about 300 votes cast’ at Grass Valley probably. The Copperheads came in to some extent there, but the Union men last night claimed to have carried the place. _ LaTEeR.~-We Aeceived the following despatch last night from-North San Juan ; “162 ¥otes polled. All ours! Copperheads have hibernated,” iim Ee By an advertisement in another col< umn it will be seen that.a large lot of honsehold furniture will be disposed of at pablic auction, to-morrow, at 104 o’clock, on Pine street. “Ike” says this is. the best lot of furniture that has been offered for sate for al” long time. Soall in want of parlor sets; , bedroom sets, sofas, chairs, carpets, bureaus, what-nots, stoves, china sets, in fact everything used in keeping a first class house, should be on hand. PEACH BRANDY.—A large quantity of this article is making in this vicinity. We know of no less than four distilleries operating. The quantity of peaches, however, that will be worked up into brandy, is but a small . portion of the cfop raised hereabouts this year, and indeed but a small part of the peaches that miight have been used forthe purpose. Brrer Liner'ry.—Last week, says the Solano Press, two prisoners confinedin Sola, no county Jail, made their way out of that institution. and made tracks for the-hills, but! the Sheriff was iu pursuit and gaining on them.
