ANOTHER DisaProurrment.—From some reason the people of San Juan were disappointed at the meeting by « failure of . Hon. Henry ‘Edgerton and Hon, Jno. F. Swift to fulfill their appointment. We are confident that no blame can be attached fo ‘the County Central Committee fur this fail~: tre. BR. H. Farquhar telegrsphed to the gentlemen and got their consent to go to San . . Juan and-Moore’s Flat instead of speaking at thie place. This orrangement Mr. Swift and Mr. Edgerton cousented to. This wasdene by Mr. Farquhar upon consultation with Union men who knew well the ppinte where the time of the engagement at Moore's Fiat, Mr. Edgerton was suffering from ao ulcerated throat, nnd at the time of the meeting at San’ Juan, he was unwell. We have no doubt that these disappointments were un-. avoidable, and we only} state these facts ‘that thé gentlemen whe were instroiental in securing these appointments and the Secretary of the County Centra) Committee may not be blamed, We apprehend that no one will question, the right of Central Committees to arrange the meetings in the respective counties as they way deem best for the cause. . Winter APPROACHING.— Within the last two days we have had the first indications of winter. weather, On Sunday night it tained eneugh to lay the dust, and above this. place we understand snow fell. Yes« terday morning he ground was whitened by avery heavy frost. Our miners begin to went cheerful countenances at this indication of winter for their bopes rest upon the amount of water which falls during the season. For twe seasous we have, had a limited supply of water, and consequently dull times. We therefore hail with joy every indicativa of stormy weather. Grany DemonsTRATION.—A telegram A. A. Sargent. Gen. John Bidwell and, Hon. Wm. H. Parks, were met at Yreka on Monday night by au immense procession, including the military, and escorted inte the city, where they had a grand toreblight pros cessivn. Bidwell,. Sargent and Parke addressed the meeting and the greatest enthesiasm prevailed. _ "LHaT 8 THE WAY.—A gentleman of our acquaintance pointed out the grand Usion precession to a noted Copperhead io San Franciéeod sad seked. “ler’t that a grand procession, does it not assure you of defeat?” “No,” replied the Copperhead, “I woulda't give ad snap of the finger for all your process sions. -We look to the by-waya and.alleys for our strength and those you can’t reach.” The Marysville Express’ publishes a dis~ patch purporting to have been sent by the editor uf the .N. Previous to purchasing the Florence, . owned ank used e Grover & Baker Machine two years, anda Wheeler & Wilson three years. y Mrs Cuas. Uznay, ~ 419 Bryant street, San Francisco. I have used a Florence Sewing Machine two ears. I brought it with me across the plaine ; t has never yet been yut of order, and I can traly say that itexcels all other’ Machines ehat I have used. I ran a Ladd & Webster six months a Wheeler & Wilson & Wilson eight months, and used a Grover & Bager ulternately with Sloat’s for two years. Tam familiar with the Howe and several of the small machines, but I never used one that woultdo all kinds of work to equal the Florence. ¥do not think it can be too highly recommended, Mrs Isaac ELLIs, Marysville. Ihave had my Florence Sewing Machine for Afiree years. I purchased one of the first made at the manufactory, and brought it to this State with me. J have used it almost steadily, and have never had the first thiag get out of order. Mrs Newton Damon, Dress Maker and Tailoress, Seventh st, betweea Bryant & Brannan, 8. F. I have used the Wheeler & Wilson about two vars, the ier, ep & Farr six months, the Sloat Kitptie about the same length of tim , the Wiltiame & Orvis nearly two frp and bave dealt in several of the small machines until thoroughlv disgusted with every machine that sews w only one thread, The Florence is the only Machine that has come under my notiee that gives perfect and entire satisfaction on al) kinds of work. No one can estimate its vaiae until they have used and tested it,as Ihave done Indeed for thin work it is invaiuable. € > GORGE GILLis, Carson city, N.T. I believe T can fully and_conseleptiously indorse each qualification claimed for the Florence . Machine. 1 have thoroughly tested it en work of all grades and each trial has been eminentl satinfactory. It takes hold of delicate fabric icately, and of a strong one with strength.. To me, it seems more than a Machime—an almost intelligent willing, helper. Ite use is easily learued, and its truction ise ooctaialy simple. I know something of the other first-class Machines, having learned to operate several. This isthe only Sewing Machinel have found reliavie. Mis Perry G. Terrt, San Andreas, Calaveras county. ~ In 1858 we purchased a Wheeler & Wilson Ma'. chine and used it until last fall, when, wishingone with ‘modern improvements,”’ we purchased a ‘‘Fiorence,”’ af er a careful examination o the different Machines in use. Having used the ‘Florence Machine over five months, we can cheerfully recommend it as being, im our opinion, the best we have seen. A. M. FLint, C L. Furst San Juan, Monterey county.
