Erma, Co.—The Mary _ Etta mine was located by Spring & Co. _ at Diamond Creek, about a year ago, _ and lately sold to James. E. Perkins for a San Francisco company which ‘has a working capital of $50,000, in cash, The machinery for a 20-horse engine to be erected upon this claim is now on the road, and a five stamp mill, which cati_be increased to ten if .mecessary, is to be erected immediately. Thirty men are employed, opening tunnels and get. ting the mine ready to take out rock rapidly. The Mary Etta was worked from. its location up:to the time of . the sale without an assessment. KILLED BY A MuLE—On Saturday last Lovis mule, at Eureka, and so seriously injured that he died on Monday’ Deceased, who was, engaged in the butehering business; was~packing-his-mule with }-— meat for the supply of customers in the mountains, when: the animal kicked him inthe groin. Dr. Hardy ,of Moore’s Flat, was sent for, but: surgical aid was of no: avail: The poor fellow after great suffering died on Monday. ACCIDENTAL SHOooTING.— Wm. Bowden,of Relief Hill, while quail hunting a few days sinee, received a full charge of bird shot from the gun of a fellow hunter, who fired at a bird. Thirty-two shot. entered his breast, shoulders and face, two passing through one ear and three through the other. The wounds are not of a serious character, though some of the shot went in some distance. . Anumber of shot were taken out: by Dr. Hunt yesterday. DuELs.—The Pennsylvania pipemen yesterday afternoon had. some pretty . lively duels. They separated the streams and put on two pipes, the pipemen of each section playing their stream upon the other. The water would strike with such force as to knock the men off their feet occasionally, but they had ‘good grit and kept at the fight until the stream was cut off. A’ Goop Mine.—The Enterprise Mine: is located at Diamond Creek south of the Mary Etta. .Rock.was. taken from a prospect shaft in thie mine last Fall which paid $24 to the ton, in free gold, and the sulphurets, by the chlorine process, yielded $510 per ton. The owners of the claim are now . engaged in Opening it. _ GRANITEVILLE.—A ‘post office has} been established at Eureka, and: the name Graniteville given toit, As there is another Eureka in the State, would it not be well for the people of Eureka South to meet and adopt the name given to their post office?’ J.
