Coggins said ‘‘you people of Nevada City have felt the eftects of thie Central Pacific Railroad in the defeat of your narrow gauge road.” Coggins might as well say the ‘‘frosts that blight your early fruits” are the effects of the Central Pacific road. The narrow gauge road is not defeated yet. If Coggins means the tram road everybody in Nevada county knows that it was defeated by local opposition entirely. But Coggins is after votes and he thinks he can make apital with the people of Nevada by such ‘‘clap trap’’A Good One. Judge Searls, who always has something good to say, made a few remarks at the Liberal meeting. He says he was introduced to Page and found him a very pleasant and agreeable gentleman. He met him in pass from the Central Pacific Railthe Grand Lodge of Good Templars, and the Railroad Company took them at half fare; that is, they paid their fare down, and got a pass to «ome back. This pass was secured by Judge Searls under this agreement. The Fire. The fire on Thursday originated in . : Dan. Baker’s stable. -The cause is not known. Shortly before the alarm. there was no indication of fire, when discovered the end of the building inside was on fire. The fire spread with great rapidity and the wind blew so hard that burning brands of shingles and cinders were carried across the town as far as Main street. men worked nobly and effectually confining the flames to the three rp destroyed. The great object of every one to who desires a long end héalthy life should be toput bis body in a cendition resist the life-threatening influences by which we are more or less surroundedpand no invigorant: and currective at present known so effectively answers this purpoes as the vitalizing elixir which, under the unpretending name of Hostetter’s Stomach Bitters, has been for morethantwenty years the standard tonic of America. In crowded cities, wliere the atmosphere is contaminated with thé effluvia inseperable from large populations; in marshy regions, where the soggy soil reeks with miasmia; on the prairies and in the forests, where every fall the air is tainted with exhalations from rotting weeds and grasses, or decomposing leaves—in short in every locality where malaria exists, this powerful vegetable antidote is urgently needed. Fever and ague, bilious tevers dysentery, congestion of the liver, jaundice, rheumatism, and all diseases which are génerated by infected air, impure water, or sudden changes of temperature, may be aveited by strengthening and regulating thesystem in advance with Hostetier’s Bitters. Autumn is always & season of peril, especially to weak, susceptible organizations. Even the more vigorvus are apt to. be in some measure depressed by the humid atmosphere, * loaded with deleterious gases produced by vegetable decay. The fall is a period of the year wher the renovation and regulation of the living macLine is peculiarly important, and the Bitters should therefore be taken daily at this Gitical season. ~ 15,000,000 — NEW YORK TRANSPLANTED OYsTERS!: ROM OUR SAN BRUNO BEDS ; THE ¥inest Flavored OYSTER s In the World, for sale Wholesale and Retail BY THE PIONEER IMPORTERS AND PLANTERS, EMERSON, CORVILLE & CO.
