Charley Kitts was married tothe
only daughter of Dr. Tompkins, at
Grass Valley, on. Wednesday evening
At the head of Broad street there is
en obstruction in the stree: to prevent
teams passing that way. On that obstruction there is a sign which reads:
“Bridge up.” In passing by there
\_ yesterday we -heard some schovl
children say ‘‘why don’t they let
teams go that way if the ‘bridge is
‘up,’ or did they mean to write on the
sign that the ‘Bridge is Down’,’’;

yesterday morning. For the life of
us we don’t know what the people

The District Court met yesterday
morning. A stay of proceedings for
69 days. was ‘granted in the case of
Lawlor vs, Patterson. The case of
Barton vs. Barton, also cameup. A
decree of divorce was granted.
Abe. Hanson, of the National. Exchange Hotel, bought over half of the
deer which we made mention of in
" yesterday’s paper. .Abe had if, a
kid, a pig and a lomb displayed in
frontof his Hotel yesterday. They
will all be served up to his patrons
tolay.
About thirty witnesses have been
subpoened to appear before the Grand
dary on the 5th of November. Most
ofthe members of the Grand Jury
reside out cf town-and altogether
the city will present _& live appearance on that oceasion, *Jos. V. Pettit has assamed control
of the Gold Room, on Broad street.
It will be re-opened on Saturday
