A splendid incline has
beon.sunk to the’depth of seventy-five feet
and a drift from this level has been run one

the lead was last worked sufficientrock was
taken out to keep three mills ruuning all the
time and the pay was big. The ledge is vow

‘than éver. The company are going to continue the inchne antil they reach « depth of
* one hundred feet, and at the same time the
rock will be taken from the, drift. The incliné has three divisions and is to be finished
up with a double track. A forty horse epgine, for hoisting and pumping, is to be put
up immediately. The resuinption of work
on this-extensive mine will give employment to a very Iurge numbero men.
MILLs.—We understand that arrangements ure being made fur the cdnstruction
of about half a dozen quartz mills, to be put
“up next Spring in the Meadow Lake District in this county. As residents of this
_ eity are interested in most of the newly disapvered ledges, we propose to give them a
ttle advice, for which we charge. nothing,
und if f lowed will be of great benefit not
Molyfo them: but to the city. In getting
lis a great many are of the opinion that if
they have them manufactured in San Francisco or Sacramento, a as qemnitter of course
they are bound to be suinething extra and
the cost is less. This is a: mistaken idea.—
We have in this city one of the very best
foundries of this Coast, where anything in
the machinery line can be made. to order,
andat the sume price the work can be done
freight added. Mexsrs. Heugh & Thom,
the proprietors of the foundry in this city,
are first class workmen, have manufactured
a great many mills, and not one of them haye
failed to give the best satisfaction. Another thing should be borne in mind, that parties living in this city can have the work progress under their own eyes, thus saving the
expense of running to and fro to the Bay.
We hope those interested will give Heugh
& Thom atrial and phereby encourage horiié
manufacture.
Tue Buckeye Leap.—The Buckeye
near
where the vid Laundry used to stand and is
~ what was known as the Wagoner lead.—
The old company worked the lead some
time with varied success, and at last sold
, out te the present owners. They have a
tunnel runing up from the creek, which
gives them one hundred feet “backs.” The
Buckeye company are now einking a shaft
and have reached a depth of thirty feet from .
the surface ; from “ thisthey have taken
some excellent rock. Thirty-eight tons was
_cfushed at Palmer’s mill last week which,
paid $42 12 tutheton. During the present
week twelve and a-half tons, crushed at the
same placé, paid $52 12 per ton. The lead
is now open aud from the shaft and tunnel
a large quantity of ore will be taken out.
Freicut.— There is un immense amount
of goods being brought to this city. We
had thought our stores were pretty well filled, but it seems not by the number of teams
arriving with goods daily. Croakers anticipated a very dull season, but are finally of
county are effectually played out.
IMPORTANT MeETING.—Every member
of the Nevada Light Guard is requested to
-.be,on hand at the Armory this evening —
The proposed parade and drill will be discussed, and other matters of importance—
