It is conceded on all hands that the
Demoeracy have made the most inefiicient and lifeless canvass this year they
have ever made in this State. Even in
1864, when they’ lost the State by over
18,000, they made a better fight. The
fact is they don’t like either their can—
didate or platform: Their papers séold
and rant, but the party is like the dry
bones the prophet saw in the valley of
Jehosephat—there is no soul under the
ribs of death,and none can be put there.
